Mumbai: Bollywood playback singer Udit Narayan is elated with his son's marriage to longtime partner Shweta Agarwal. The couple tied the knot on December 1 in a close-knit ceremony here. Talking about Aditya-Shweta's relationship, Udit said that the couple was in a live-in relationship for ten years and were ready to enter the wedlock.

Udit in chitchat with a webloid said that now onwards December 1 will bring double joy in the family as his Aditya-Shweta's wedding anniversary coincides with his birthday. Though it was not planned when the astrologer suggested that it is as an auspicious day for marriage, they said, why not?

The singer said that he wanted his son to wait until the pandemic is over but Shweta’s family and Aditya were keen that they get married now. "My son and Shweta were in a live-in relationship for ten years. I guess it was time for them to make it official," said Udit.

Udit also expressed regret that he wanted lavish celebrations for his only son's wedding but the "COVID has taken the joy away from all celebrations."

He wanted to invite his industry friends but couldn't do so as the number of guests allowed in marriage related gatherings was capped at 50. Udit said the wedding took place at a temple but for the wedding reception, they hired three sections of the ITC Maratha and invited 50 guests at each of those venues to accommodate 150 guests.
Aditya and Shweta met on the sets of the 2010 horror film, Shaapit.
