Hyderabad: A first glimpse at the future of gaming - Sony revealed the design for its new PlayStation. The new console was stood upright, with sleek white panels either side.
- PS5 will launch in two options - a standard model with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive, and a digital model with no disc drive at all.
- Sony also showcased a collection of new accessories, including a wireless headset with 3D audio, an HD camera for gamers to film their game-play experiences, and a charging station for the console's wireless controllers.
- Sony opted for a pre-recorded online broadcast rather than a glitzy physical event, due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
- This month's Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, was canceled earlier this year due to the virus outbreak. Sony had already said it would be skipping the annual Los Angeles show.

"At PlayStation, we believe in generational transitions and we put years of work into making them happen. We want you to enjoy the unique benefits of moving from one generation to the next," says Jim Ryan, president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Sony also showcased a host of new games coming to the PS5, including an enhanced version of "Grand Theft Auto V" coming in 2021, a new version of the racing game "Gran Turismo", and a new "Spiderman" title focused on superhero Miles Morales. Click on the video below to know more about the games:-
Sony resisted giving a release date for the console or a starting price, although it's expected to debut in time for Christmas.
PS5 is the follow-up to the popular PlayStation 4 console launched in 2013 that has sold over 106 million units worldwide.
Sony is competing with rivals Microsoft, who also plan to launch a new, next-generation console this year, the Xbox Series X.
