San Francisco: Google has finally announced the Pixel 5 alongside the Pixel 4a 5G that is a 5G version of the Pixel 4a during its Launch Night In event.
"Like all Pixel devices, security and safety are paramount in Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5. Both devices come with our TitanTM M security chip to help keep your on-device data safe and secure, and both phones will get three years of software and security updates,'' the company said in a statement.
- Google Pixel 5 will be available at $699, whereas the Google Pixel 4a 5G starts at $499.
- Both smartphones will first be available in 5G markets -- Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Taiwan, the UK, and the US.
- The Pixel 4a 5G will launch first in Japan on October 15, and begin rolling out in other countries from November, while the Pixel 5 will be available across all 9 countries from October 15.
- The Pixel 5 features a 6-inch display with an FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset, one of the newest premium mid-range SoC released by the US chipmaker paired with an 8GB RAM on the 5 while there is a sole 128GB storage option.
- The SD765G chipset is equipped with an X52 modem that enables 5G connectivity. Sub-6 is supported on all Pixel 5 versions, while in some countries it will also work on mmWave networks.
- The device comes with a dual rear camera setup that includes a 12.2MP primary sensor and a 16MP secondary sensor. For selfies and video chats, the device features an 8MP snapper at the front.
- The phone houses a 4,080mAh battery on the Pixel 5 that supports 18W fast charging.
- The Pixel 4a 5G packs a 6.2-inch OLED screen which makes it bigger than the 4a. The phone only comes with the standard 60Hz refresh rate.
- Under the hood, the phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC, paired with 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM.
- The Pixel 4a 5G comes with a dual rear camera setup that includes a 12.2MP primary sensor and a 16MP secondary sensor. For selfies, the Pixel 4a 5G features an 8MP shooter at the front.
- The smartphone packs a slightly smaller 3,885mAH battery compared to the Pixel 5 but retains the 18W fast charging support.

- Pixel phones have always been known for their photos and 4a is no exception, clicking images with the least effort.
- The overall app experience is another beauty on the device. The user interface and navigation are just so simple and free-flowing, and the credit goes to the latest Android 11 and new Google Assistant with Lens. The company also offers a minimum of three years of OS and security updates.
- In addition to features like Recorder, which now connects with Google Docs to seamlessly save and share transcriptions and recordings (English only), Pixel 4a has the Personal Safety app for real-time emergency notifications.
- Pixel 4a also has Live Caption, which provides real-time captioning (English only) for the video and audio content.
Introduced last year in Pixel 4, the new Google Assistant is also available in Pixel 4a to help with getting things done fast, like controlling apps, using it contextually within apps, and quickly searching within Google Photos using only voice.
While these new Assistant capabilities are currently only available for English, all of the other Assistant features continue to be available in nine Indian languages.
Basically, use the new Google Assistant to control your phone and apps, send texts and multitask on the go.
Google that decided not to make its Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL smartphones available in India last year, has finally confirmed Pixel 4a will be made available in the country via Flipkart on October 17.
"The Pixel 4a will release in India on October 17 and will be available for purchase on Flipkart," the company said in a tweet in reply to a user.
Finally, Google India announced that 'Pixel 4a' will be available in the country via Flipkart Big Billion Days sale from October 16 at a special discounted price of Rs 29,999. Google Pixel 4a price in India has been set at Rs 31,999. However, for a limited period, the company is offering the smartphone for Rs 29,999.
Google has finally launched a new 'barely blue' colour option for the Pixel 4a.
Initially sold only in black, the blue variant will be available in the US for the same $349 price. Once it sells out, it will not be restocked.
Apart from the US, the colour will be available in Japan later this year.
Google Pixel 4a in Barely Blue features a light baby blue colour with an orange power button. The new colour option was actually rumoured for the Pixel 4a but it was later reported that Google has scrapped plans for it.
While the Pixel 4a launched only in black, the Pixel 3a was available in white, black, and light purple. The original Google Pixel and Pixel XL released in really blue in 2017 and in the following year, the Pixel 2 featured a kinda blue colour.
