Microsoft Translator is now available in Odia language

Microsoft Translator adds translation text for Odia, and other 10 regional languages which will be available soon, in the Microsoft Translator app, Office 365, Bing Translator, and through the Azure Cognitive Services Translator for businesses and developers.

Delhi: Microsoft Translator has added translation text for Odia, and other regional languages will be available soon, in the Microsoft Translator app, Office 365, Bing Translator, and through the Azure Cognitive Services Translator API (application programming interface) for businesses and developers.

Odia is spoken by 35 million people in India and across the world. It joins Bangla, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, and English as the 12th commonly used language of the Indian subcontinent to be available in Microsoft Translator.

Odia is one of six languages of India to be granted to the status of a “Classical Language” by the Indian government and has a history of literature stretching back over 1000 years.

It is an Indo-European language native to Eastern India and also the official language of the Indian state of Odisha and is also spoken in the nearby states of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh.

With the latest inclusion, Microsoft Translator service enables more than 90 percent of Indians to access information & work in their native or preferred languages and will be of the greatest advantage in making computing language-agnostic and more inclusive across the nation.

Microsoft Translator enables professionals to enhance their business & customer interactions with text-speech translation powered by Translator & Microsoft Speech service, and Azure Cognitive Services.

The Cloud-based translation service is equipped with Azure-based API that can be used as part of Microsoft offerings to conduct business across India and globally in 11 Indian and 70 global languages.

Businesses can avail multi-language support such as translation for e-content, e-commerce product catalogs, product documentation, and internal communication, among others.
