Hyderabad: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced the successful ramp down of Pragyan Rover from Lander Module, Vikram, on Thursday. The Lander soft-landed on Moon at 6.03 pm, on Wednesday.
"Chandrayaan-3 ROVER Made in India! Made for the MOON! The Ch-3 Rover ramped down from the Lander and India took a walk on the moon !" the ISRO said, in a post from its official social media handle.
The first photo of Pragyan rover rolling out of Vikram Lander was shared by Pawan K Goenka, chairman of Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe), Department of Space, GoI.

"First photo of Rover coming out of the lander on the ramp." He wrote in an X (formerly known as Twitter) post, on Wednesday night, hours after the ISRO successfully landed on the south pole of earth's lone satellite.
What will Pragyan Rover do in Moon? It has Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscope (LIBS) Propulsion Module for qualitative and quantitative elemental analysis, the ISRO has said. It will help derive the chemical composition and infer mineralogical composition to further our understanding of lunar-surface.
It also has Alpha Particle X-ray Spectrometer (APXS), which will determine the elemental composition such as magnesium, Aluminium, Silicon, Potassium, Calcium, Titanium, Iron of lunar soil and rocks around the lunar landing site.

Earlier, the social media handle exclusively launched for Chandrayaan 3 shared an image by the Landing Imager Camera moments after the landing.
"The image captured by the Landing Imager Camera after the landing. It shows a portion of Chandrayaan-3's landing site. Seen also is a leg and its accompanying shadow. Chandrayaan-3 chose a relatively flat region on the lunar surface," the post read.

President Draupadi Murmu congratulated the ISRO team for the soft-landing and the successful deployment of Pragyan-rover from inside Vikram Lander, which is yet another milestone in India's Moon mission. "Its rolling out a few hours after the landing of Vikram marked the success of yet another stage of Chandrayan 3. I look forward with excitement, alongside my fellow citizens and scientists to the information and analyses that Pragyan will acquire and enrich our understanding of the moon," she posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
India has scripted history after the ISRO announced the successful soft-landing of the Lander Module in its Chandrayaan-3 mission. This success has catapulted India to become the fourth country in the world to achieve the rare feat and the first to land in south pool. Before India joined the ranks of the elite space club, the United States, the erstwhile Soviet Union and China have been there.
Chandrayaan-3 was launched on July 24 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. After executing successful maneuvres, the Lander Module reached the Lunar Orbit and was landed using the pre-fed commands helping it to initiate the successful Automatic Landing Sequence.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the ISRO team virtually and congratulated them for putting India on galactical map.
