Ghaziabad: A 19-year-old girl was allegedly killed by a man in Ghaziabad after she refused his proposal to be in a relationship with him. The accused person has been arrested on Monday, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Naina Singh, daughter of Baldev Singh of Tulsi Niketan area.
The accused person has been identified as Sher Khan of the same locality. He was absconding after committing the crime since June 17 and he has been arrested today, sources in the police said.
Upon investigation, it was revealed that the accused had a one-sided love affair with the girl and the girl refused. Reportedly, Sher Khan used to harass the girl from college and several times threatened the girl and her family members to suffer.
Following this, Sher Khan conspired to murder her. On June 17, the accused came with two young men grabbed the girl from Tulsi Niketan area and attacked her with knives, police sources said.
Sher Khan fled from the spot after stabbing the girl and injuring her critically. The assailant repeatedly attacked her in her stomach and neck leading to her death on the spot.
On being informed by the locals, girl's parents came to save her but the girl was badly bled. The girl was soon rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Acting on a tip-off, police launched a manhunt to nab the accused. Police apprehended the accused person today.
During interrogation, he confessed to the crime. Meanwhile, police have also detained two friends of the accused for questioning and further investigation is underway, sources added.
