Ranchi: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Ranchi suspended a police officer at Zap 10 police station in Jharkhand after a woman constable in the precinct levelled sexual harassment charges against him.
The complainant has accused the Zap 10 station in-charge Shatrughna Singh of molesting her inside the police station.
She, in an application to Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Surendra Kumar Jha, stated that Singh when she was alone in the police station, the accused entered and "touched her inappropriately" and also threatened her not to inform anyone about the crime.
When she informed the same incident to her woman senior officer, the police team rushed to the office and thrashed Singh black and blue.
After receiving the application, the SSP initiated a department inquiry against Singh and suspended him.
"A woman constable has accused the police station in-charge, Shatrughna Singh of sexual harassment. We have initially suspended him for such a heinous crime. the SSP said, adding that further action will be taken accordingly against him after getting investigation report.
