Girl stabbed to death by stalker in Vijayawada

A girl was stabbed to death by her stalker for spurning his advances in Vijayawada city in Andhra Pradesh’s Krishna district on Thursday morning. The stalker later stabbed himself repeatedly and is battling for his life at a hospital.

Vijaywada: An engineering student was stabbed to death in Vijayawada on Thursday by a man who allegedly claimed to be in love with her. The accused man also critically hurt himself and is in a serious condition.

The deceased has been identified as Divya Tejaswini, a resident of Christ Rajapuram and the accused was identified as P Swami (24).

According to sources, the incident took place this morning when Swami attacked Divya outside her home with a knife, grievously injuring her.

Immediately, she was rushed to the local hospital by some people.

Later Divya succumbed to her injuries during treatment at the hospital.

Swami had been stalking the girl for several days, claiming to be in love with her. However, the woman rejected his advances and threatened to complain to the police, sources said.

Fumed over her rejection, Swami has a bitter argument with Divya this morning. However, the argument turned ugly and Swami lost his cool.

In a fit of rage, he took out a knife and stabbed Divya critically injuring her. Swami later stabbed himself in the stomach and is in a serious condition.

On intimation, police reached the hospital and sent the body for the post-mortem. Swami has been admitted at a hospital.

Meanwhile, the cops have registered a case and launched a probe into the matter.

AP Mahila Commission Chairperson Vasi Reddy Padma reached the spot and assured the family members that strict action would be taken against the accused.

Padma said that she will take the issue to the CM and fight for justice.

On the other side, women organizations protested the incident and demanded to punish the murderer. And, they asked to apply the laws like "Disha" immediately and demanded justice.

"Incidents like this should be taken seriously and the system should be changed," said Vasireddy Padma.
