Ayodhya (UP): In a major development in Ayodhya double murder case, Uttar Pradesh police have arrested four persons including the prime accused for their alleged involvement in the killing of Inayatnagar village head and a history-sheeter.

The arrested have been identified as, Ankit Yadav (Prime accused), Rajneesh, Sourav and Ramdin.

According to sources, the incident occurred at Dharamganj Bazar under Inayatnagar police limits on May 18 when two persons were shot dead, identified as Jayprakash Singh, the head of the village and Nanh Yadav, a history-sheeter.

Acting on the complaint lodged by MP Lallu Singh, cops initiated a probe into the matter and launched a manhunt to trace the accused persons.

"Nanh Yadav, who was a candidate in the panchayat elections had opened fire on the village head Jayaprakash Singh but missed the target. Following this, the mob fired at Nanah Yadav, and killed him on the spot," said, Asish Tiwari, Ayodhya ASP.

"On being informed about Nanh Yadav's death, his son Ankit Yadav and his companions attacked the village head Jai Prakash Singh and his colleagues at Dharamganj Bazar. In retaliation, Ankit opened fire at Singh and injured him critically on the spot. Singh was immediately rushed to the Ayodhya DHH where he breathed his last," ASP Tiwari said.

During the investigation, Ayodhya police came to know that the crime was a fallout of past enmity between Nanh Yadav and Jai Prakesh Singh. The weapons, including two guns were also seized from accused persons' possession, police informed.

Ankit is being interrogated by Ayodhya police. However, the investigation team is looking at all angles.
