Andhra Pradesh: Hours after father's suicide, daughters too end life

Two sisters, identified as Swetha and Sai of the Kamalapuram area in Andhra Pradesh's Kadapa district were found dead near Erraguntla-Kamalapuram railway line this afternoon. Police said that the duo took the extreme step apparently depressed over their father's death, who committed suicide on Friday.

Kadapa (Andhra Pradesh): Apparently depressed over their father's death, two women allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a moving freight train at YMR colony in Proddatur town in Andhra Pradesh's Kadapa district on Saturday.

The deceased women have been identified as Swetha and Sai of the Kamalapuram area in the district. Their bodies were found this afternoon.

According to police sources, Babu Reddy, father of Swetha and Sai, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence on Friday afternoon over family feud.

Police said he was troubled by family feuds and constant quarrelling with his younger son-in-law.

The incident occurred on Friday afternoon when Reddy had allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his home.

On being informed by locals, Reddy's daughters reached the house and rushed him to local CHC. However, doctors in the hospital declared Reddy brought dead.

On Saturday afternoon, apparently depressed over their father's death, Swetha and Sai had committed suicide by jumping before a train near Erraguntla-Kamalapuram railway line.

"Babu Reddy had a fight with his younger son-in-law, Suresh Kumar and was living in depression due to the past feuds. Before Reddy's death, he took a video and he said that he was unable to bear the harassment of his son-in-law for which he decided to kill himself," a police officer said.

"This afternoon we were informed that the daughter duo of Reddy had committed suicide by jumping before a moving train. However, the exact reason behind the suicide was not ascertained immediately. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and the exact cause behind the incident will be confirmed after the post-mortem report arrives," the officer added.
