Paris: Two French soldiers were killed during a military operation which was carried out to free four hostages who were kidnapped in Benin.
Praising their heroic act, French Minister of the Armed Forces Florence Parly has said that the two soldiers did not hesitate to face the terrorist kidnappers while protecting the hostages from them.
French President Emmanuel Macron has also expressed his condolences for the two soldiers who sacrificed their lives in making the operation successful. He also thanked the authorities of Burkina Faso and Benin for their cooperation in the mission and in return promised them support in fighting terrorism in Sahel region.
As per reports, two of the hostages were French tourists, one was from America and other was from South Korea. Last week the French tourists visited the Pendjari National Park wildlife reserve, after which they went missing. The African guide was later found dead.
Recently, the Islamic extremists have become active in Burkina Fasco, raising worries for the security forces of the area.
