It was reported that Moira Boxall, a 72-year-old grandmother, was shocked to discover a 60-metre (two-foot) reptile after returning home to Scotland from a trip to see her daughter in Australia.
It is believed that the python went into hibernation and started shedding its skin during the long flight to the UK.
