Sangatte: French inventor Franky Zapata on Sunday morning crossed the English Channel on a personal flying machine.
Zapata Set off from the French coastal town of Sangatte and landed in Saint Margaret's Bay in Britain.
He completed the 35-kilometer (22-mile) journey in 22 minutes.
French inventor stopped only once, on the British side, to refuel his invention from a boat in the choppy waters.
Zapata said, "I’m feeling happy and so happy for my family, my friends and my team, it’s just an amazing moment in my life."
Earlier, 10 days back Zapata had tried to cross the Channel but failed due to a collision with a refueling boat.
French maritime authorities said the refueling operation was dangerous, even though Zapata abandoned his initial plan to refuel the power pack he wears during his flight from a flying platform.
The English Channel is the body of water that separates northern France from southern England.
