Beijing: Speaking at the Belt and Road Forum on Saturday, Chinese President Xi Jinping urged the foreign leaders to participate in the global infrastructural project.
During the meeting, he also emphasised on openness and multilateralism of this project which aim to form a network system in various countries by building roads, ports and bridges.
China's long cherished Belt and Road Initiative indicates Beijing's strategic ambitions and has now become a matter of concern for USA, Russia, Japan and India.
But Beijing has denied all the reports which say that the project leaves developing countries with too much debt.
"We need to build an open world economy and reject protectionism," Xi said on Saturday.
"We need to encourage the full participation of more countries and companies thus expanding the pie of common interest. In the spirit of multilateralism, we need to earnestly advance the institutional building for Belt and Road cooperation," he added.
Yet concerns remain. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has warned the nations which are joining the project, to study the project carefully and understand China's motive behind it.
