Normalcy restored at Pak Gurudwara, Sikhs not allowed to take out 'Nagar Kirtan'

In the aftermath of the incident of vandalism, Islamabad is unlikely to allow Sikhs to take out 'Nagar Kirtan' from the Nanakana Sahib Gurudwara.

Hyderabad: Amid the reports of violence and stone-pelting at Pakistan's Nanakana Sahib Gurudwara on Friday, normalcy restored as Granthi offered Kirtan peacefully on Saturday.

But Pakistan is unlikely to allow Sikhs to take out 'Nagar Kirtan' from the Gurdwara on Saturday in the aftermath of the incident of vandalism.

Earlier on Friday, an angry group of local residents pelted stones at Gurdwara Nankana Sahib. As per the reports, the group was led by the family of a boy who had allegedly abducted a Sikh girl Jagjit Kaur, daughter of Gurudwara's Granthi.

Islamabad rejected reports that Gurdwara was desecrated by certain groups.

Pakistan MP Mahendrapal Singh said that the accused will be given the toughest sentence and appealed to maintain peace. He added that it was not a strong one but a matter between two families which was consulted.

India has strongly condemned the incident and called upon Islamabad to take immediate steps to ensure the safety and welfare of the members of the Sikh community.

Gurdwara Nankana Sahib, also known as the Gurdwara Janam Asthan, is the site where the first Guru of the Sikhs, Guru Nanak was born. It is regarded as one of the holiest Sikh sites.
