The winds were so high that cars were flipped and a bus carrying at least 40 people was blown off a highway, causing fatalities.
According to the police, most of the deaths were caused by collapsing walls and falling bricks in homes, falling trees and electricity polls.
The clear weather on Monday morning allowed helicopters to begin the rescue services and take the injured to hospitals.
