Hyderabad: The meeting between China's Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi and senior NCP leader Madhav Kumar Nepal is signalling towards Beijing's increased involvement in the Himalayan nation's internal affairs.
Hou Yanqi held a meeting with a senior leader of the ruling Nepal Communist Party and former prime minister Madhav Kumar Nepal at the latter's residence in Koteshwar on Sunday evening.
Reports said that Hou inquired about the intra-party disputes within the ruling NCP. The envoy also expressed concern over the growing rift seen within the ruling party.

At a time when Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's chair is hanging in balance, a meet between Madhav Kumar and Hou shows the intense involvement of China into Nepal's domestic affairs.
Earlier over his anti-India remarks, Oli's senior party leaders had demanded his resignation and 31 out of 44 members Standing Committee were against Oli.

Reports had emerged that the Chinese ambassador had influenced Oli to act against India amid the rising domestic uproar and fragility of Oli government's response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The recent meet between Hou Yanqi and Madhav Kumar amid the political uncertainty only confirms that Beijing is provoking Nepal to take an aggressive stand against India.
