Hyderabad: At least 100 people were killed and around 4,000 others wounded in two huge explosions that rocked Lebanese capital Beirut on Tuesday.
The explosions sent shockwaves across the bustling city of Beirut, bursting out windows and shaking buildings.
Though the exact reason for the trigger is not yet known, President Michel Aoun said 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate had been stored unsafely in a warehouse for six years. The chemical is highly explosive when it comes into contact with fire - and when it explodes, ammonium nitrate can release toxic gases including nitrogen oxides and ammonia gas.
