Hyderabad: The coronavirus pandemic has infected more than 7,14,51,703 and killed over 16,01,452 people across the world. More than 4,91,72,205 people have recovered so far.
The US is the worst-hit nation with cases more than 1,62,95,714 and fatalities over 3,02,762.
The World Health Organization (WHO) is encouraged by the growth in the number of vaccines against COVID-19 that have performed well in clinical trials, although the organization remains concerned by the limited number of doses currently available, Bruce Aylward, a senior WHO adviser, said on Friday.
A handful of candidate vaccines against COVID-19 have reported efficacy levels of greater than 90 per cent in clinical trials, and Aylward noted that multiple vaccine platforms have shown strong results.
