Hyderabad: The coronavirus pandemic has infected more than 5,53,50,663 and killed over 13,32,338 people across the world. More than 3,84,94,441 people have recovered so far.

The US is the worst-hit nation with cases more than 1,15,38,280 and fatalities over 2,52,652.

A second experimental COVID-19 vaccine — this one from Moderna Inc. — yielded extraordinarily strong early results on Monday, another badly needed dose of hope as the pandemic enters a terrible new phase. Moderna said its vaccine appears to be 94.5% effective, according to preliminary data from an ongoing study.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has issued new guidance to curb the spread of the coronavirus between minks and humans, warning that the transmission of COVID-19 among animals could speed up the number of mutations in the virus before it potentially jumps back to people.
