Hyderabad: The coronavirus pandemic has infected more than 2,56,34,102 and killed over 8,54,763 people across the world. More than 17,939,176 people have recovered so far.

Brazil has said its Covid-19 death toll surpassed 121,000 deaths after 553 more patients died, taking the total number of fatalities to 121,381.

Since Sunday, tests detected 45,961 new cases of infection, pushing the total caseload to 3,908,272, the Ministry of Health said on Monday.

On a positive note, Brazil saw its fifth consecutive day of fewer than 1,000 fatalities from the novel coronavirus.

No new locally-transmitted Covid-19 cases were reported on Monday across the Chinese mainland, the National Health Commission said on Tuesday.

Ten confirmed cases arriving from outside the mainland were reported Monday, the commission said.

No new suspected cases or deaths related to the disease were reported Monday, the commission said.

South Korea reported 235 new cases, mostly from the greater capital area, where officials have restricted dining at restaurants and shut down churches, nightspots, fitness centers, and after-school academies to fight a viral resurgence.

South Korea has added 5,412 cases during a 19-day streak in triple-digit daily jumps, accounting for more than a quarter of the nation's caseload.
