Hyderabad: The coronavirus pandemic has infected more than 1,07,93,359 and killed over 5,18,046 people across the world. More than 59,30,131 people have recovered so far.
South Korea says it has confirmed 54 more COVID-19 cases as the coronavirus continues to spread beyond the capital region and reach cities like Gwangju, which has shut schools and tightened social restrictions after dozens fell sick this week.
The figures reported on Thursday brought the national case total to 12,904, including 282 deaths.

Twenty-two of the new cases are in Gwangju, a southwestern city where infections were tied to various places, including office buildings, public libraries, welfare centers, and a Buddhist temple.

The virus spreads by microscopic droplets from coughs or sneezes. The new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms for most people.
For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness or death.
