New Delhi: The Taliban on Tuesday announced 'general amnesty for govt officials and have urged officials to return to work.
According to sources, a statement issued by the Taliban said, "A general amnesty has been declared for all... so you should start your routine life with full confidence".
The announcement came two days after the Taliban sweep through Afghanistan and once again gained control after the drawdown by the US troops in the war-ravaged nation.
Meanwhile, the Indian government has evacuated the staff, diplomats and personnel from the Indian embassy jn Kabul. IAF's C-17 heavy-lift aircraft, carrying the second batch of diplomats, officials and journalists from Kabul, landed in Gujarat's Jamnagar and is expected to reach New Delhi today afternoon.Indian ambassador to Afghanistan Rudrendra Tandon is on the flight along with 120 other diplomats and officials.
On Monday afternoon, One C-17 of the Indian Air Force (IAF) carrying around 45 Indians, including the embassy staff posted there, returned to India from Kabul, with personnel and equipment.
After a month-long offensive against the Afghan security forces, terrorists associated with the Islamist outfit Taliban captured Afghanistan's capital Kabul on Sunday (August 15) and seized power, following which former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani fled the country.
