Hyderabad: As many as nine Indian-origin people are missing after mass shootings on Friday at two mosques in central Christchurch in New Zealand Indian envoy to the country Sanjiv Kohli tweeted.
At least 49 people were killed in the attacks after gunmen opened fire indiscriminatelyat the two mosques during afternoon prayers on Friday.
The shootings occurred at the Masjid al Noor mosque on Deans Avenue and Linwood Masjid in Linwood at about 1:45 pm (local time).
One man, who has claimed responsibility for the shootings, left a 74-page anti-immigrant manifesto in which he explained who he was and his reasoning for his actions.
Police have warned people to avoid mosques anywhere in New Zealand. People in Christchurch are asked to generally be off road and schools are on lockdown there.

Police took three men and a woman into custody after the shootings, which shocked people across the nation of five million people.
One of the suspects was later charged with murder.
