Hyderabad: Ever since the Iranian general major Qassem Soleimani was killed in a US strike at Baghdad airport, tension between Washington and Tehran has escalated to an unprecedented level.
In a major retaliation, Iran on Wednesday launched missile attacks on two bases of the US in Iraq in which 80 American troops reportedly killed.
"All is well! Missiles launched from Iran at two military bases located in Iraq. Assessment of casualties & damages taking place now. So far, so good! We have the most powerful and well-equipped military anywhere in the world, by far! I will be making a statement tomorrow morning," US President Donald Trump tweeted soon after the attack hinting at the worsening situation.

Military Might
When it comes to the military strengths of the two nations, the US stands tall as compared to Iran. While the US military is considered as the 'best' in the world, Iran stands 14th in the list.
Pentagon has 12,81,900 active troops and 14,48,71,845 bench strength, where as Iran has only 5,23,000 active troops and 4,73,24,105 available man power.
Similarly, the US has a total of 48,422 tanks, vehicles and artilleries nearly six times more than that Iran possesses. Tehran has only 8,577 tanks, vehicles and artilleries.
The US has also a mighty naval power when compared to Iran. While the US has 415 ships, submarines and mine warfare, Iran has 398.

When the airpower of the two nations taken into consideration, the US is 20 times mightier than Iran. While the Pentagon has 10,170 aircraft, helicopter in its fleet, Iran has only 512.
While the US spends a whopping USD 716 billion as defence budget and owns seven types on missiles, Iran spends nearly 100 times less on defence. Iran has a defence budget of only USD 6.3 billion with 12 missiles.
