  • Joe Biden should not wrongfully claim the office of the President. I could make that claim also. Legal proceedings are just now beginning!

Legal proceedings are just the beginning, warns Trump

US President Donald Trump on Friday (local time) warned that legal proceedings were 'just the beginning', and also said that his Democratic rival Joe Biden should not 'wrongfully' claim the President's office.

"Joe Biden should not wrongfully claim the office of the President. I could make that claim also. Legal proceedings are just now beginning!" said Trump in a tweet. In another tweet, the President claimed that he had a big lead in some states, which had "miraculously" disappeared. "I had such a big lead in all of these states late into election night, only to see the leads miraculously disappear as the days went by. Perhaps these leads will return as our legal proceedings move forward!" Trump tweeted.

Pro-Trump protesters decry the vote-counting

Pro-Trump protesters — some of them openly carrying rifles and handguns — rallied outside vote-tabulation centers in a few cities around the country Friday, responding to groundless accusations from President Donald Trump that the Democrats were trying to steal the White House.

Elections officials in several states where Democrat Joe Biden was ahead said the anger outside their doors made them fear for the safety of their employees.

Roughly 100 Trump supporters gathered for a third straight day in front of the elections center in Phoenix, where hundreds of workers were processing and counting ballots.

Trump's wild claims test limits of Republican loyalty

President Donald Trump's wild and unsupported claims of voter fraud have emerged as a high-stakes Republican loyalty test that illustrates the tug of war likely to define the future of the GOP whether he wins or loses the presidency.

There is a pervasive sense among current and former GOP officials that the president's behaviour is irresponsible if not dangerous, but a divide has emerged between those influential Republicans willing to call him out publicly and those who aren't.

Driving their calculus is an open acknowledgement that Trump's better-than-expected showing on Election Day ensures that he will remain the Republican Party's most powerful voice for years to come even if he loses.

That stark reality did little to silence the likes of Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, a second-term Republican who has not ruled out a 2024 White House bid. He described the president's claims as “dangerous” and “embarrassing.”

Nevada voters cope with ballot issues amid count

Nevada voters cope with ballot issues amid count

Democrat Joe Biden nearly doubled his lead over President Donald Trump in Nevada as officials released more election results Friday.
Biden was leading by 626,211 votes to Trump's 605,669 votes, growing his lead to 20,542. A day earlier, Biden was leading by 11,438 votes.
Nevada has six Electoral College votes and could be decisive as Biden closes in on the 270 needed to win the White House. It’s too early to call the contest, with votes still being counted.
Results from about 30,000 mail ballots were released Friday.
No Republican presidential candidate has carried Nevada since 2004, but it has remained a battleground. Trump narrowly lost the state in 2016.

Philadelphia Mayor tells Trump to 'put his big boy pants on' and accept defeat

Philadelphia mayor Jim Kenney on Friday (local time) stated that US President Donald Trump should 'put his big boy pants on', as signs indicate that the President might lose this election.

"I think what the President needs to do is frankly put his big boy pants on," said Kenney in a press conference, reported CNN. Calling Trump's allegations for the presidential polls as 'baseless', Kenney stated that a plain and simple democratic process was undertaken in the state while counting the ballots.

Biden maintains lead over Trump in 4 states

As the counting of votes for US Presidential polls continue, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has managed to maintain a lead over President Donald Trump in four key states.

According to CNN projections as of 4 pm ET (2:30 am IST), Biden is leading in the states of Pennsylvania, Georgia, Nevada, and Arizona, while Trump has managed to lead the former Vice President in North Carolina.

Biden is leading Pennsylvania by 13,641 votes, Nevada by 20,137 votes, and Arizona by 39,769 votes. His lead in Georgia has been slim, with 1,616 votes.

On the other hand, Trump's lead in North Carolina is by 76,737 votes. Biden currently leads Trump with 253 electoral votes to 213 votes, as per the latest updates by CNN.

Trump seeks transparency in vote counting, says won't give up fighting for America

US President Donald Trump has sought transparency into vote counting and election certification and asserted that he will pursue this process through every aspect of the law to guarantee that Americans have confidence in the government.

"We believe the American people deserve to have full transparency into all vote counting and election certification, and that this is no longer about any single election. This is about the integrity of our entire election process, Trump said in a statement issued by his campaign on Friday.

Trump is trailing behind his Democratic challenger Joe Biden in the presidential elections. Latest voting count indicates that Biden and his running mate Senator Kamala Harris are on the cusp of a historic victory. Trump has challenged the authenticity of the elections, alleging massive voters fraud and electoral malpractice.

3rd court blocks Trump's order on congressional seat count

A panel of three judges on Friday became the third federal court to rule that President Donald Trump's effort to exclude people in the country illegally from the numbers used for dividing up congressional seats is unlawful.

The federal court in Maryland prohibited the Commerce Department, which oversees the Census Bureau, from sending to the president any figures that include the number of people in the country illegally in each state when transmitting the apportionment count at the end of the year.

Federal courts in New York and California already have issued similar orders. The Trump administration has appealed the New York case, and the Supreme Court is hearing arguments on it at the end of the month.

The Maryland decision was more like the New York ruling in that it merely found Trump's order unlawful, rather than unconstitutional. The California court decided that Trump's order violated the Constitution and federal law.

Advocates race to find Georgia voters who cast bad ballots

Advocates for both presidential candidates raced Friday to find every person in Georgia who submitted a flawed ballot before time ran out to fix the paperwork in a race that could be decided by only a few thousand votes.

Hours before a deadline, Christin Clatterbuck and Sarah Meng joined about 20 other volunteers who planned to visit addresses in suburban Atlanta’s Gwinnett County in search of voters whose ballots were initially rejected but could be fixed with a signature or an ID.

They walked past rose bushes to knock on the door of a home in Lilburn where they were looking for a 19-year-old voter. Her dad answered and promised to call her at college.

Other problem ballots were cast by people not listed on the voter rolls who will need to explain why. They must correct, or “cure,” their ballots by 5 p.m. Friday for the votes to count.

At a second home, Clatterbuck and Meng did not find the voter, but a friend put her on the phone. She had failed to sign her ballot.

Pa. judge rejects GOP case on provisional votes

A statewide appellate court judge in Pennsylvania has dismissed a request from Republicans to stop the state or counties from counting provisional ballots that were cast by voters whose mail-in ballots were disqualified by a technicality.

Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf’s state elections bureau last month gave guidance to counties that a voter could use a provisional ballot if they “did not successfully vote” with the mail-in or absentee ballot they were issued, or if their ballot was rejected and they believe they are eligible to vote.

The Democratic National Committee, which had sought to oppose the case in court, said Republicans wanted to “throw out lawfully cast provisional ballots.”

Wolf’s top elections official, Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar, a Democrat, has insisted that the practice is legal and not prohibited by law.

Regardless, she said there aren’t “overwhelming” numbers of voters who cast a provisional ballot after their mail-in ballot was disqualified, but she has not given an exact figure.

Trump faces tough road in getting Supreme Court to intervene

Facing the potential for narrow losses in multiple battlegrounds, President Donald Trump might have a tough time persuading the Supreme Court to take up his call to intervene and prevent Joe Biden from becoming president.

Trump could need the court's help in two or more states, an unlikely scenario that is far different from what took place in 2000, the only time the court has effectively settled a presidential election. Twenty years ago, the entire fight was over Florida’s electoral votes and involved a recount as opposed to trying to halt the initial counting of ballots.

Trump's campaign and Republicans already are mounting legal challenges in several states, although most are small-scale lawsuits that do not appear to affect many votes.

The president’s lawyers have asked to intervene in the pending Republican appeal to the Supreme Court over the three-day extension for the receipt and counting of mailed ballots ordered by Pennsylvania’s top court.

Trump: I 'will never give up fighting for you'

President Donald Trump says he “will never give up fighting for you and our nation” as he is on the cusp of losing his bid for reelection.

Trump is spending Friday at the White House tweeting, watching results come in and continuing to cast unfounded doubt over the integrity of the election.

He says in a statement released by his campaign: “We believe the American people deserve to have full transparency into all vote counting and election certification.” And he adds that, "This is no longer about any single election. This is about the integrity of our entire election process.”

There is no evidence that any votes cast illegally are being counted or that the process is unfair and corrupt. Indeed, the ballot-counting process across the country largely has been running smoothly, if slowly, because of the increase in mail-in ballots because of the coronavirus pandemic.

But Trump is nonetheless threatening continued legal action, saying: “We will pursue this process through every aspect of the law to guarantee that the American people have confidence in our government.”

Protesters crying foul over vote counts stir safety concerns

Protesters crying foul over closely watched vote counts rallied outside tabulation centers in Phoenix and Detroit Friday, responding to President Donald Trump's baseless claims of widespread fraud in the race for the White House.

The protests came as elections officials in several states where counts show Democrat Joe Biden ahead said the anger vented outside their doors had left them worried about the safety of their workers.

Roughly 200 Trump supporters gathered for a third straight day Friday in front of the elections center in downtown Phoenix, where hundreds of workers are still processing and counting ballots.

  • Here’s how this must work in our great country: Every legal vote should be counted. Any illegally-submitted ballots must not. All sides must get to observe the process. And the courts are here to apply the laws & resolve disputes.

Facebook announced several measures to reduce the spread of misinformation on its platforms before the November 3 election.

13:30 November 06

Trump won 'legally'

"If you count the legal vote, I easily win. If you count the illegal votes, they can try to steal the election from us...I have already won many critical states... massive victories in Florida, Iowa, Indiana, Ohio, to name just a few, we won these and many other states despite historic election interference from big media, big money, and big tech... We won by historic numbers."

The US President mentioned that there was no "big blue wave" (Democrats) as pollsters had predicted, instead, there was a "big red wave" (Republicans).

"The Democrats are the party of the big donors, big money and big tech, it seems, but the Republicans have become the party of the American worker, and we are also the party of inclusion, as everyone now recognises that media polling was the work of election interference in the truer sense of the word, by powerful special interests," he added.

He referred to the ongoing polls as "phony".

"We were winning in all key states by a lot, actually, and then our numbers started getting miraculously whittled away, and they would not allow legally permissible observers," Trump said.

He further stated that there have been tremendous amounts of litigations due to the "unfair" process, and pointed out his stance against the process of mail-in ballots.

The President also claimed that he was on the 'track to win' the state of Arizona.

"Democrat officials never believed they could win this election, honestly, that is why they did the mail-in ballots where tremendous corruption and fraud are going on. That is why they have mailed out tens and millions of unsolicited ballots without any verification measures whatsoever," he said.

He also termed the counting of Pennsylvania and other key states as a part of a 'corrupt Democrat machine'.

"We cannot let that happen, it is not a question of who wins....we can't let that happen to our country, we cannot be disgraced by letting something like that happen," Trump said.

"We can both (Joe Biden and him) claim the states, but ultimately I have a feeling judges are going to have to rule. There has been a lot of shenanigans and we can't stand for that in our country," he concluded.

According to CNN, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has managed to hold a 40-point lead over President Donald Trump, as of 4 pm ET on Thursday.

Nevada vote count

Election results showed Joe Biden with a slim lead over President Donald Trump in Nevada, but it was still too early to declare a winner in the race Thursday with a large number of ballots yet to be counted.

The top elections official in the most populous county said more results will be released Friday morning that include mail-in ballots.

Nevada's Attorney General, Aaron Ford, a Democrat, said threats of lawsuits from Republicans over alleged voting improprieties were expected and called them 'a Hail Mary'.

"It's another opportunity to undermine the confidence in this election. But I won't partake in that." Ford said.

No Republican presidential candidate has carried Nevada since 2004.

But the state has remained a battleground.

Trump fell just shy of winning Nevada and its six electoral college votes four years ago, and this year he campaigned hard in the state hoping for better luck.

Republicans break with Trump

Republican lawmakers criticized President Trump’s unsupported claim that Democrats are trying to “steal” the election, saying Trump's comments undermine the U.S. political process.

Trump’s tweets earlier Thursday declaring victory and calling for officials to “STOP THE COUNT” were a test of how strongly he can keep Republicans in line as he tries to challenge the voting process in court.

Before Trump's speech in the White House briefing room, several Republicans challenged his attempts to halt vote-counting in Pennsylvania and other battleground states.

While Biden was close Thursday to the 270 Electoral College votes needed to win the White House, it was unclear when a national winner would be determined after a long, bitter campaign dominated by the coronavirus pandemic and its effects on Americans and the national economy.

Vegas shows support

A pro-Donald Trump rally was underway in Las Vegas on Thursday night outside an election centre.

Supporters were waving Trump flags and chanting 'Stop the fraud' and 'Don't steal the vote!'

In addition to Las Vegas, groups of Trump supporters have gathered at vote tabulation sites in Phoenix, Detroit and Philadelphia, decrying counts that showed Democrat Joe Biden leading or gaining ground.

It comes as President Trump continued to claim that Democrats were trying to commit 'fraud'.

The president did not back up his claim with any facts or details.

State and federal officials have not reported any instances of widespread voter fraud.

The presidential race has not yet been called because neither Trump nor Democratic nominee Joe Biden has yet collected the requisite 270 Electoral College votes.

Trump loses legal fights

US President Donald Trump's campaign engaged in a flurry of legal activity to try to improve the Republican president's chances, requesting a recount in Wisconsin and filing lawsuits in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Georgia.

Judges in Georgia and Michigan quickly dismissed Trump campaign lawsuits, undercutting a campaign legal strategy to attack the integrity of the voting process in states where the result could mean President Donald Trump’s defeat.

Trump's legal challenges faced long odds. He would have to win multiple suits in multiple states to stop vote counts since more than one state was undeclared.

US Elections 2020 LIVE: Biden takes lead in Pennsylvania

Washington: With votes still being counted across the nation, President Donald Trump on Thursday sought to undermine confidence in the nation's election, making unsupported accusations from the White House about the integrity of the results in his race against Democrat Joe Biden.

Hours earlier, Biden offered reassurances that the counting could be trusted, projecting a more presidential appearance while urging patience from Americans.

Trump's path to victory narrow, he pushed unsupported allegations of electoral misconduct in a series of tweets and insisted the ongoing vote count of ballots submitted before and on Election Day must cease. And in his first public appearance since late on Election Night, he amplified the conspiracy theories amid the trappings of presidential power.

He made similar claims about election integrity during the 2016 campaign, which he went on to win. This time, he was speaking not as a candidate, but as the sitting president of the United States.

Biden’s victories in Michigan and Wisconsin put him in a commanding position, but Trump showed no sign of giving up. It could take several more days for the vote count to conclude and a clear winner emerges.

Biden has already won Michigan and Wisconsin. The contests in Georgia and Pennsylvania, along with Nevada and North Carolina, were tight with votes still being tabulated.

The Trump campaign said it was confident the president would ultimately pull out a victory in Arizona, where votes were also still being counted, including in Maricopa County, the state’s most populous area. The AP has declared Biden the winner in Arizona and said Thursday that it was monitoring the vote count as it proceeded.
