Speaking during a Rose Garden news conference, Trump said Obama "would have gone to war" with North Korea, adding that Obama told him personally that he was "close to starting a big war with North Korea."

Trump said he was able to diffuse the situation when he got into office and now has "a very good relationship" with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

The president said Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe nominated him for the Nobel peace prize as a result of his efforts with North Korea, but added he will "probably never get it."

"They gave it to Obama, he didn't even know what he got it for," Trump said about his predecessor.

Trump said his administration does "a lot of good work" but doesn't get "any credit for it."

Regarding the ongoing trade talks with China, Trump said he would consider pushing back the March 1 deadline to increase tariffs on Beijing if he sees that the two sides are close to a deal.

Authorities in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region are making efforts to help residents find better jobs through a series of job creation programs.
The programs are part of a three-year poverty-relief plan for certain regions in southern and northwest Xinjiang—which are among the poorest in China.
Poor residents in the region can choose from migrating to larger cities inside or outside Xinjiang, or they can find jobs in nearby industrial parks and "satellite factories" if they don't want to leave home.
Right after the Spring Festival holiday ended, over 400 residents from northwest Xinjiang's Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture of Ili departed for Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shandong and Jiangxi provinces to start their career.
For most of them, it was the first time to be away from home.
"I just stayed at home in the past. Now I want to go out and see the outside world. I want to make friends, earn more money, and live a better life. I also want to support my parents to live a better life," said Turdibay, one of the migrators in the group.
For those choose to stay near home, the local government and companies have offered basic skills training course for them.
Abdusalam was once a farmer in his hometown, where he would make a living from growing and selling crops, alongside temporary work.
He took part in a training course hosted by an industrial park located in Xinjiang's capital city Urumqi to learn how to make "naan", a Xinjiang specialty bread. Now, he's working as a bread maker at the industrial park's "naan" museum and earning around 4,000 yuan(nearly 368 U.S. dollars) per month.
"I communicate with visitors every day, so my Mandarin is getting better and better. I hope I can get higher pay in the future so I can take my parent to live with me in the city," said him.
In southwest Xinjiang's Hotan, regional department of human resources and social security opened a series of training sessions for local women.
"We have a variety of training classes for women. There are medical training, hairdressing and beauty classes, cooking courses as well as accounting classes. Through these trainings, women have developed skills and taken up different jobs," said Jia Chunxiang, director of the bureau's employment department.
Home to dozens of ethnic groups, Xinjiang occupies one-sixth of China's territory.
Creating jobs has been a top priority for Xinjiang officials to fight poverty. Official statistics showed that the autonomous region has helped 537,000 people shake off poverty in 2018.
