San Diego: A hospital in San Diego city in the state of California has revealed the birth of a baby girl, who is believed to be the world's tiniest surviving baby.
The baby named Saybie weighed only 245 grams when she was born, has been discharged from the hospital this month and said to be healthy.
According to hospital sources, the baby was born at 23 weeks and three days and was sent home this month. She weighed 2 kilograms when she was discharged from the hospital.
Post-delivery, Saybie was kept under observation for nearly five months in the neonatal intensive care unit at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women & Newborns.
The baby's mother gave permission to share the story but wanted to stay anonymous, the hospital said.
According to the Tiniest Baby Registry maintained by the University of Iowa, Seybie is the world's tiniest baby ever to survive.
