Two of the three Apollo 11 astronauts, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins have been invited to the Kennedy Space Centre's Launch Complex 39A to mark the anniversary.

Washington: About 50 years ago, the United States launched a spacecraft from the John F Kennedy Space Center aiming to land humans on the lunar surface.

Apollo 11 was launched on July 16, carrying 3 crew members: Mission Commander Neil Armstrong, Command Module Pilot Michael Collins, and Lunar Module Pilot Edwin E. Aldrin Jr.

The spacecraft landed on July 20, later Neil Armstrong emerged from the spacecraft stowed the surface television camera that recorded mankind's first step on the moon. The footage shows the achievement of human invention. Armstrong collected the lunar surface material. Aldrin, later descended onto the lunar surface.

After 2.5 hrs descending to the surface, they planned to reenter the spacecraft. Astronauts collected 22 kgs of material and two main types of rocks, basalts and breccias that were found at the landing site of Apollo 11.

The spacecraft landed on July 24 in the pacific ocean and made history for the humankind. The mission was completed and spacecraft made human's dream come true.
