New Delhi: EAM Jaishankar who is on a three-day official visit to Mexico, held bilateral talks with First Lady Beatriz G Muller, Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrad C and Defence Minister Luis C Sandoval on Monday. The leaders reviewed political cooperation, trade and investment, space and scientific potential and cultural exchanges between the two countries and shared perspectives on governance challenges and global narratives.
The minister also attended the "La Grandeza de Mexico" exhibition organised as part of celebrations of Mexico’s 200th anniversary of attaining independence. "Attended the Grandeur of Mexico exhibition on the return of heritage. A pleasure to meet First Lady @BeatrizGMuller, Foreign Minister @m_ebrard and Defence Minister @Luis_C_Sandoval," Jaishankar tweeted.
He also met Mexican President Manuel López Obrador at the event. "Two continents. Two civilizations. Shared concerns. Participated at an event on Returned Heritage in Mexico city. Pleasure to meet President Lopez Obrador there," Jaishankar said in another tweet, attaching a photograph of the Mexican leader at the exhibition.
Jaishankar is scheduled to interact with the leading CEOs and the business community in Mexico, which is currently India’s second-largest trade partner in Latin America and is a member of the UNSC alongside India for the 2021-22 period. These meetings assume significance in the face of the changing world order and the security challenges that the world is facing.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is currently continuing a series of bilateral engagements with foreign ministers of various nations here on the sidelines of the high-level 76th session of the UN General Assembly.
This is his first visit as EAM to Mexico to participate in the commemorative events of the 200th anniversary of the consolidation of Mexican Independence along with other world leaders.
Earlier upon his arrival in Mexico, Jaishankar tweeted, "Acabo de aterrizar en México. An External Affairs Minister’s visit from India after 41 years. Participating in celebrations of Mexico’s 200th anniversary of attaining Independence. We are working together in the UN Security Council and India is Mexico’s 9th largest trade partner."
