Hyderabad: Filmmaker Mani Ratnam's passion project Ponniyin Selvan 2 has earned over Rs 300 crore globally after its release, the makers announced on Monday. The second part of the period action epic was released in theatres on April 28 in Tamil along with the dubbed versions in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam.
According to the most recent box office data, Ponniyin Selvan 2 has made more than Rs 150 crore in just 10 days. PS 2 has generated total revenue of Rs 154 crore. The movie has been a great hit and the overall worldwide collection has crossed Rs 300 crore.

Taking to Twitter on Monday, Madras Talkies, Mani Ratnam's production banner, shared the box office update on its official page. The tweet read, "#PS2 continues conquering the box office worldwide with a 300 crore+ collection!" It further shared posters on which it's written '300+ cr worldwide gross in cinemas worldwide'.

Based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's popular 1955 Tamil novel of the same name, the Ponniyin Selvan film series chronicles the story of the early days of Arulmozhivarman, played by Jayam Ravi, one of the most powerful kings in the south who went on to become the great Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I.
Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthik, Trisha Krishnan, Sobhita Dhulipala and Prakash Raj also round out the cast of the lavishly mounted franchise. The film was released in theatres on April 28. The first part of Ponniyin Selvan, co-produced by Madras Talkies and A Subaskaran's Lyca Productions, was released last year in September. (With agency inputs)
