Hyderabad: Global icon Priyanka Chopra recalled the stressful moment her daughter Malti Marie came into the world last year, and what it was like in the early days when the infant was released from the hospital after staying more than 100 days in the neonatal intensive care unit. Recently in an interview, Priyanka recalled how her singer-husband Nick Jonas hand held her through the tough situation.

On a television show, Priyanka said that Maltie Marie had either Priyanka or Nick by her side ever since she took her first breath. Priyanka further said that she was unable to sleep all night during the newborn's first few days at home because she kept looking at the monitor showing the baby's heartbeat.

Priyanka said, "This is yet another example of the strength my husband has. I sort of stopped. I wasn't sure how to respond when we heard about this. I recalled saying, 'Just tell me what to do because I have no idea what to do; and he is like 'Simply get in the car with me. We then drove to the hospital. She was born, and ever since she took her first breath to now, she has never been without one of us, ever."

Priyanka continued, "She was in the hospital for around 110 days. It was not our test, it was her test. I realized very early that I did not have the luxury to be scared or weak, because she was scared, and she was weak." Malti Marie was born to Priyanka and Nick last year via surrogacy. The infant traveled for the first time to India last month as Priyanka and Nick were among the esteemed guests who attended the inauguration gala of Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai. The couple also stayed back after the NMACC gala as PeeCee was busy promoting her show Citadel.
