Srinagar (J&K): Kashmir's Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam announced on Wednesday that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated across Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
"Witnesses have been on record on sighting the Shawwal moon at several places, leading to the conclusion that Eid will be celebrated on Thursday," Nasir-ul-Islam told ETV Bharat on phone.

"I felicitate the people of J&K on the auspicious occasion of Eid and pray to Almighty that this auspicious occasion is the harbinger of peace and prosperity for the entire J&K", he said, adding, "We all should seek intervention from Almighty Allah to eradicate us this ongoing Covid menace, wreaking havoc across the globe for two years now".
Earlier, the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee in Pakistan after hours of deliberation announced that the Shawal moon has been sighted in the country and that Eid would be celebrated on Thursday.
