Patna (Bihar): Suspects Mohammad Salim Ahmed aka Haji Salim and Kafil aka Kafeel, who were arrested from Shamli in UP in connection with the Darbhanga Parcel Blast case have been brought to Patna by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). According to sources, the suspects have a connection with the Lashkar-e-Taiba. The NIA team will present both of them in the civil court today wherein their remand will be sought.
Earlier on June 30, another two accused Mohd. Imran Malik and Nasir Malik who also were in contact with the LeT were apprehended and brought to Patna. They were later produced in the NIA court of Special Judge Gurmandir Singh Malhotra on Friday. After the court appearance, both have been sent on remand for seven days.
"Sections 16 and 18 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) have been imposed on both the suspects. An application was filed in this regard and the evidence presented in the court, following which the judge had ordered to combine both the sections of UAPA. Both the suspects have been sent to judicial custody. NIA officials will visit Beur Jail and complete further formalities," said Manoj Kumar, PPE, NIA Special Court.

After the arrest of Imran Malik and Nasir Malik, the NIA team had raided the hideouts of the duo in Hyderabad on Thursday and seized several chemicals and materials used for making IEDs. It has also been revealed that the duo in the past worked for SIMI and crores of funding was done for this by ISIS. On the other hand, a team from the Pune FSL are investigating the samples (Darbhanga blast case) in Kolkata FSL.
On June 17, there was a blast at platform number one of Darbhanga station while parcels were being unloaded from a train. Following an investigation in the case, the UP ATS had arrested two suspects in this case from Shamli. The NIA is investigating the entire matter.
