Centre submits report on Bihar AES outbreak to SC

The Centre submitted a report to the Supreme Court on the AES outbreak in Bihar saying that a decision has been taken to set up a 100 bedded paediatric ICU at Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital in Muzaffarpur in one year.

Patna (Bihar): The Centre on Monday submitted a reply to the Supreme Court on the AES outbreak in Bihar saying that a decision has been taken to set up a 100 bedded paediatric ICU at Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital in Muzaffarpur in one year.

In the reply, it is stated that five virology labs were set up in different districts of the state and 10 bedded pediatric ICUs will also be established in different districts.

The report assures that the central government is giving all the necessary measures and assistance to the Bihar government to control the outbreak.

The report also claims that 119 deaths have been reported at the government-run SKMCH which is handling the largest number of patients in the district while 21 that have been confirmed at the Kejriwal Hospital.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced the compensation of rupees Rs4,00,000 to the families of the children who died due to AES.

On June 24th SC expressed serious concern over the rising number of deaths caused due to AES and also asked the centre to file a reply.
