Kozhikode (Kerala): The family of Uttar Pradesh resident Jaspreet Singh who allegedly committed suicide for not being allowed to attend his graduation exams, demand inquiry against his teachers.
The final year Bachelor of Arts (BA) Economics student at Malabar Christian College was found hanging dead in his room on 1st of March, 2020.
Jaspreet was denied from attending his exams due to low attendance and the family has alleged that the college principal is also responsible for Jaspreet's death.
The deceased's sister Balvinder Kaur informed that Jaspreet and their family had to move to their native place at the time of his grand mother's death and could not return due to Citizenship Amendment Act protest.
They had to stay in Uttar Pradesh for over a month.
Reportedly, Jaspreet informed his teachers before he was leaving.
Balvinder also alleged that her brother would have been alive now, if the college had allowed him to write his exams considering the situation.
Jaspreet is the son of Mumohan Singh and Sonam Kaur and the family is permanently settled in Kozhikode.
The Muslim Student's Federation (MSF) workers had proposed a march to Malabar Christian College on demanding actions in this matter.
