Jamshedpur: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) national president Asaduddin Owaisi announced Surjeet Singh of the Sikh community as their candidate from the Jamshedpur East seat. Owaisi stated his intentions during the first Jharkhand visit. On September 24 this year, at a meeting in Bariatu, Ranchi, Owaisi said that minorities have a major share in the state's population, but not in power.

Sikhs were victims of political neglect, Surjeet Singh also says that the Sikh community did not get any representation here for 25 years. Sikhs are ready to help people everywhere, but Sikhs themselves have become victims of political neglect. However, the big question here is why Asaduddin Owaisi has fielded a Sikh a candidate. If we look at the census data of 2011, the population of East Singhbhum district is more than 22 lakh 93 thousand.
Of this 67.57 per cent are Hindus. Muslims constitute 8.89 per cent, Sikhs 1.68 per cent and Christians 1.31 per cent. The remaining 20.53 population belongs to people of other religion. Experts believe that due to Tata Steel, there are a large number of people who have come here from other states and settled here. Except for Hindu votes, the equation of Muslim, Sikh and Christian voters can affect the victory here. This is the reason why Owaisi has relied on a Sikh instead of a Muslim candidate.
Meanwhile, the Jamshedpur East seat has become the centre of attraction after rebel BJP leader Saryu Rai decided to fight against his own Chief Minister. He is fighting as an independent candidate but he has not resigned from membership of the party. Along with Jamshedpur West, Saryu Rai has jumped into the Jamshedpur East Assembly seat as an independent. Rai was legislator from Jamshedpur West seat and was critical of his own government over several issues. He did not enjoy good relations with Das in the last five years.
Das has been winning the Jamshedpur East seat since 1995
In Kolhan's politics, all eyes are on the Jamshedpur East Assembly. This seat has been occupied by the Janata Party since 1977. In 1980, the name of the Janata Party was changed to the Bharatiya Janata Party. Raghuvar Das has been elected as MLA from Jamshedpur Eastern Assembly seat on a BJP ticket 5 times since 1995. In the last assembly election, Raghuvar Das got 1 lakh 3 thousand 427 i.e. 61.48 per cent votes, which is 11.19 per cent more than in 2009. Anand Bihari Dubey of Congress got the second place. JVM was reduced to number three and JMM to number four. The special thing is that despite winning by a margin of more than 70 thousand votes, one per cent of the votes in this seat went to the NOTA account. It is clear from the equation of these figures and candidates that the contest on Jamshedpur East seat is going to be very interesting this time.
