Then in a damage control bid, the Minister of Railway said, 'I wasn't completely aware of the situation. I have been informed by officials that there is some contractual issue which will be rectified soon and construction of the bridge will resume.'
Ironically not long back, Indian Railway Station Development Construction's chairperson Vishweesh Chaube confidently said that bridge project will meet its December deadline.
This is not the first time that the construction of world's highest Railway bridge project has halted. Total four extensions has been sought for the project which was first awarded in August 2004.
