Ghaziabad/New Delhi: After the Black and White fungus cases emerged, a case of Yellow Fungus has been reported in Ghaziabad. Professor Dr. BP Tyagi has claimed that this is the first case of Yellow Fungus to be reported in the city.
The 45-yr old patient a resident of Sanjay Nagar who is undergoing treatment at a private hospital, had earlier tested positive for the Black and White fungus.

According to Professor Dr. BP Tyagi, an ENT specialist, people infected with symptoms of 'mukor septicus' (Yellow Fungus) will face symptoms such as - lethargy, low appetite, or no appetite at all, weight loss, leakage of pus at the site of infection, slow healing of wounds and eyes appear sunken due to malnutrition.
As the infection turns severe it would lead to organ failure and necrosis, says Dr. Tyagi adding that Yellow fungus is a fatal disease because the infection develops internally and therefore it is important to note the symptoms.

The only cure for this is the injection of 'Amphotericin B', he says.
Poor hygiene causes Yellow Fungus
According to Dr. Tyagi, it is very important to maintain personal hygiene and keep the house neat and tidy, in order to prevent bacterial and fungal growth. Even humidity is an important factor as too much concentration of water vapour present in the air can lead to the growth of bacteria and fungus.
However, Dr. NK Gupta, the Chief Medical Officer of Ghaziabad said that there is no report of yellow fungus case in the district.
