Gaya (Bihar): Eight-year-old Rudra Pratap Singh from Gaya is the cynosure of all eyes with his ability to do more than 200 Yoga asanas with ease. Hailing from a remote area, his mastery over the art of Yoga has shot him to national fame. Rudra, who is also a skating champion, says it is his sheer hard work and passion that has helped him perfect the most difficult asanas. He has also won several national medals. Interestingly, this child prodigy never got professional training. Though his first Yoga guru was one Purushottam Kumar, his father Rakesh Kumar is currently guiding him.

Rudra said his father encouraged him to pursue yoga because he used to soon get exhausted during the national level skating events. This helped him so much so that he not only took part in premium skating events but also won several awards. Rudra said his aim is to represent India in the Olympics and win a gold medal for the country.

Rudra said he is a fan of Yoga guru Baba Ramdev as the latter combines asanas with humour, thereby making even difficult asanas yoga seem easy. Rakesh Kumar said Rudra has practising yoga for the last couple of years. "Rudra practices every day for two hours in the morning and evening," Rakesh said.

"We hope the government reaches out and extends him support so he could bring laurels to the country," Rakesh said.
