New Delhi: HRD Minister Prakash Jawdekar on Wednesday, launched - Scheme for Higher Education Youth in Apprenticeship and Skills (SHREYAS), a programme which aims to provide industry apprenticeship opportunities to the general graduates i.e., April 2019 pass-outs through the NationalApprenticeship Promotional Scheme (NAPS).
The program is expected to enhance the employability among the general graduates by providing on the job work exposure and earning of stipends.
SHREYASis a programme basket comprising the initiatives of three Central Ministries: Ministry of Human Resource Development, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
"Education with skills is the need of the hour and theSHREYAS will be a major effortin this directionto make our degree students more skilled, capable,employable and aligned to the needs of our economy so that they contribute to country’s progress and also obtain gainful employment," opined Jawdekar, while addressing the gathering.
SHREYAS portal will enable educational institutions and industry to log inand provide their respective demand and supply of apprenticeship.
