New Delhi: The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (CAPFD) has announced that the procurement of wheat has begun for RMS (Rabi Marketing Session) 2021-22 on minimum support price (MSP). Wheat procurement has already begun in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Chandigarh and Gujarat.
According to CAPFD Ministry, 29.24 LMT wheat has been procured till 11 April 2021, at a minimum support price of Rs 5774.20 crore, thereby benefiting 3,30,046 farmers.

At the same time, procurement of paddy is going on in states under KMS (Kharif Marketing Session) 2020-21. As of 11 April 2021, 702.05 LMT paddy has been purchased. A total of 1,32,548.26 crores has been paid to farmers at MSP value.
In Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Tamil Nadu for KMS 2020-21 and RMS 2021, the purchase of 107.08 LMT pulses and oilseeds under the Price Support Scheme (PDS) has been approved.

At the same time, approval has also been given for the purchase of 1.23 LMT copra (perennial crop) from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh.
The central government through its nodal agencies has procured 5,29,848.45 MT of moong, urad, tur, gram, lentils, groundnut pods, mustard seeds and soybeans for KMS 2020-21 and RMS 2021 till April 11, 2021. These crops were purchased from the farmers at an MSP rate of Rs 2,790.72 crore.

This has benefited 3,38,097 farmers of Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Even cotton has been purchased at MSP from farmers of Gujarat, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. 91,89,378 bales of cotton have been procured at an MSP of Rs 26,719.51 crore thereby benefiting 18,86,498 farmers.
