Dehradun: The procession of Lord Ram from Raghunath temple in Devprayag, Uttarakhand will go to Janakpur in Nepal, like in 2019. Tourism minister Satpal Maharaj has instructed the officials to make arrangements from now on to take out the procession of Lord Ram. An order has also been issued keeping in mind the faith of devotees, so that the arrangements are also made by the tourism department in Janakpur, Nepal.

According to Satpal Maharaj, this procession is being organized to promote mutual harmony, culture and tradition. This year on December 4, Lord Ram's procession will be taken out from Raghunath temple in Devprayag and is expected to reach Janakpur on the day of Vivah Panchami, which falls on December 8.
In the year 2020, due to the deadly pandemic, the procession of Lord Ram was not held. However, every year Lord Ram's procession is taken out from Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh to Janakpur in a grand manner. In such a situation, when preparations are being made to take out Lord Ram's procession from Ayodhya on a grand scale, tourism minister Satpal Maharaj on the other hand has given instructions to take out another grand procession from Devprayag.

According to mythology and scriptures, Vivah Panchami has great importance in Hinduism and is considered auspicious and holy. It is believed that Lord Ram had travelled to Janakpur Dham in Nepal and had broken the bow of Lord Shiva during the Swayamvara of Goddess Sita. It is then that Lord Ram and Goddess Sita's marriage gets fixed and the occasion is celebrated in almost all regions of India.
Grand celebrations are also held at Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Ram and at the birthplace of Mother Sita in Janakpur, Nepal.

Lord Shri Ram's procession from Devprayag in Uttarakhand to Janakpur in Nepal was held for the first time in the state of Uttarakhand on 28 November 2019 following the initiative of Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj. The procession of Lord Ram was carried almost 1067 kilometres from Devprayag to Janakpur (Nepal). On the first day i.e. November 28, the procession covered a distance of 757 kilometres and reached Lucknow. Then on November 29, the procession covered 351 kilometres and reached Butwal, Nepal, wherein, it was joined with the procession from Ayodhya. From there both the processions reached Janakpur on 1 December.
The Uttarakhand tourism minister said that the relationship between India and Nepal has been on for centuries and it will give a boost to the culture and heritage of both places.
