Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has rejected a petition seeking cancellation of the 'National Coviation Policy' which was announced on 21 April by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
In the plea, the petitioner sought companies to reduce the price of Covishield and Covaxin and appealed to the Central Government to make vaccination free for all.

According to Abhishek Malhotra, a student of Punjab University citing a report stated that the rates fixed for the Covishield and Covaxin are the highest in the world.
He added that people aged above 60 yrs and from 45 to 59 yrs being provided vaccination free of cost in government hospitals and exclusion of all those aged between 18-44 years under Phase 3 amounts to discrimination.

The petitioner added that states should carry out the task of vaccination and that the Centre needs to provide vaccines free of cost to states.
Having heard the plea the Punjab and Haryana High Court said that the matter is being heard by the Supreme Court.
