Mumbai: In view of the ferocious second wave of Covid-19 infections, Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) announced that the company will continue to provide salaries for five years to the nominee of the employees who have succumbed to the disease.
In an internal communication to employees, the company management said besides the five years’ salary, medical coverage will be extended for life for the employee’s spouse, children and parents.

The company will also bear 100 per cent of education and related expenses up to graduation for all children of employees, the communication added.
That apart, a payment of Rs 10 lakh will be made to the grieving family members of all off-roll employees who have succumbed to COVID-19, Nita Ambani, chairperson, Reliance Foundation, said on Wednesday.

In another statement, Reliance said it has put in place a liberal leave policy for employees affected by COVID-19.
“It is providing financial assistance of up to 3 months’ pay as interest-free salary advance in case of an exigency. In case of the unfortunate demise of an employee, Reliance is providing financial support to the family and committing to shoulder the educational expenses of the children,” the company said in its annual report for 22020-21 released on Wednesday.
