New Delhi: The NYAY (Nyuntam Aay Yojana) initiative is a welcome decision but it would be tough to implement, says noted Economist Sharad Kohli on Tuesday.
A day after Congress President Rahul Gandhi announced implementing NYAY initiative, commonly known as minimum income guarantee scheme, noted Economist Sharad Kohli said that it may not be an easy task to fulfill.
"There will be elimination of all other Governmnet welfare scheme. The entire package is 2 percent of the GDP of the country and it may not be an easy task to implement," said Kohli while talking to ETV Bharat exclusively.

He said that Congress was looking for a "trump card" in the election "and NYAY is that card." In fact announcing such scheme has become a common phenomenon.
"In Rajastha, Chattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, Congress announced of waving farm loans. And after that BJP announced Kisan Yojana where Rs 6,000 should be deposited to every poor farmers account... but it's good that there is no more third party now, everything goes directly to the beneficiary through DBT," said Kohli.
Referring to NYAY, Kohli said that government need a total of Rs 3.6 lakh crore to implement the scheme. "Now we have to wait and watch," added Kohli.
