New Delhi: Soon, Haj Pilgrims can use RuPay services in Saudi Arabia. The move was announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Raveesh Kumar on Thursday ahead of the visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the gulf nation next week.
"MoUs likely to be signed during the visit to launch the RuPay card in Saudi Arabia.. which will be very useful for not only the large Indian community but also Haj and Umrah pilgrims", the spokesperson said.
With the proposed launch, Saudi Arabia will be the third country in the Gulf region to get Rupay card facility after the UAE and Bahrain. The prime minister launched RuPay services in the UAE in August last during his visit to the country.
During his two-day visit starting on 28 October, Modi will deliver the keynote address there and will meet Saudi Arabia's King Salman and hold delegation-level talks.
