New Delhi: Focusing on skill development and IT sector have a major priority for the government, said Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey.
Answering to a question on upgradation of skill development of IT professionals during Question Hour in Rajya Sabha, the minister said that the government is working in this direction with a continuous effort and new approach.
Alphons Joseph Kannanthanam, member of Rajya Sabha asked if the new India can be created only at the backbone of a very strong IT and the new technology since more than 65 per cent of people are below the age of 35, whether these young people are technologically skilled today to really create this new India and if not what has government done effectively to take action on this?
Replying to his question Dr Pandey said that the government is working in this direction with a continuous effort and new approach. He further added, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched Nasscom's Future Skills platform in February 2018 to meet the future needs in this sector.
Nasscom's Future Skills platform will initially upskill 40 lakh IT employees and prospective job seekers in eight emerging technologies that could drive IT jobs in future.

- Virtual Reality
