FASTag must for vehicles, says Gadkari

Union Minister for Road and Transport Nitin Gadkari announced in the Lok Sabha that now the government has planned to allow only FASTagged vehicles to pass toll plazas. This will abolish the system of giving cash for toll.

New Delhi: Union Minister for Road and Transport Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday said that FASTag will be made compulsory for all vehicles in four months. This means that all the vehicles will now be able to pass toll plaza through FASTags.

Gadkari in the Lok Sabha said that 58 lakh FASTags have already been distributed so far. He also announced that now the government has planned to allow only FASTagged vehicles to pass toll plazas. This will abolish the system of giving cash for toll.

Electronic toll collection system has been introduced in India by the National Highways Authority of India to resolve the problems faced by toll collection systems on toll plazas.
