Chennai: The Employers' Federation of Southern India, the oldest body representing companies from diverse sectors, would hold its centenary celebrations later this week, a top official has said.
Top brass of various companies including India Pistons Ltd, Chairman and Managing Director N Venkataramani, Saint Gobain India, Managing Director, B Santhanam along with a host of industrialists were expected to take part in the inauguration on August 9, EFSI Secretary General K Manickam said.
Governor Banwarilal Purohit would inaugurate the two-day event in which the 99th annual general meeting of EFSI would take place in the presence of Labour department, Principal Secretary, Sunil Paliwal, he said.

The theme of the conference would be "Future of Work-Employment, Employability and Employee relations".
On the role played by EFSI, he said the trade body has offered its views and suggestions for enactment of labour laws both by Central and State governments including the Workmen's Compensation Act, 1923 and to the recent Code on Wages and Code on Occupational Safety, Health and Working conditions.
"Many of our suggestions were incorporated in various bills and also in Code on Social Security and Code on Industrial Relations," he said.
The Federation also holds regular discussions with Central and State level trade unions through dialogues for mutual understanding and appreciation of the issue towards bringing industrial peace and harmony, he said.
